The Triumph and Tragedy of Imola

As the teams ‘hot foot’ it from the Algarve to the wonderful rolling hills of Emilia Romagnia, the F1 focus will inevitably shift from Lewis Hamilton’s new record of 92 race wins to the darkest weekend in the history of motor racing when Roland Ratzenberger and Ayrton Senna lost their lives in the name of racing in 1994.

The Imola circuit is a place of passion. The Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari is where Gilles Villeneuve and Didier Pironi notoriously fell out in 1982 as well as where the bitter feud between Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost began in 1988. It is also the track where the upcoming talent of Fernando Alonso held off the mighty Michael Schumacher for lap after; lap to secure victory in 2005 during his first World Championship season with Renault.

This week we showcase some superb and unique items related to those legends of Imola.
