Description

Ferrari 250 GTO 1962 front grille and Cavallino badge with oak display plinth

Once in a while, absolutely wonderful one-off pieces come to market and this is one of the best we have seen recently.

An instantly recognisable piece from arguably the most beautiful car in the world – the first car to be recognised as a work of art (by the Court of Bologna in 2019) – the Scagletti designed Ferrari 250 GTO. Ferrari made only 36 examples of the 250 GTO for racing homologation and each example is estimated to be worth over £50 million today.

This hand fabricated custom frontal aluminium intake with mesh grille attached comes with the exceptionally rare early type Cavallino horse still bolted to it.

An attractive and unique piece, the grille comes with a custom solid oak chamfered display plinth with brushed metal plaque applied, inscribed with the Scuderia Ferrari shield and “250 GTO (1962)”. The grille is displayed freestanding on the plinth to an overall width of approx 21 inches.

The ultimate ‘man cave’ piece for the Ferrari enthusiast, previously in the private collection of a well known motoring journalist.

Unrepeatable!
