Didier Pironi 1978 Tyrrell Cosworth race used steering wheel

This steering wheel by Personal of Italy was produced in the ‘Fitti’ design with suede grip for the late Didier Pironi driving for the Tyrrell team in 1978.

It has a dark blue centre pad with the manufacturers logo and ‘Pironi’ markings and is presented in a museum quality professional frame.

A very rare piece from the career of the Frenchman who is forever associated with the tragic events of 1982 when team mate Gilles Villenauve was killed at Zolder and his own F1 career ended after a massive accident at Hockenheim. Tragedy followed Didier with his untimely passing in an offshore powerboat race a few years later.
