Description
MM is delighted to be able to offer this superb original race used steering wheel from Brian Redman’s 1972 Chevron B24 Formula 5000 car campaigned by Sid Taylor Racing
Formula 5000 was a single seater racing formula that ran in different series in regions around the world from 1968 to 1982. Built originally as a one-off for Brian Redman, the F5000 Chevron B24 won on its debut, and a year later a production B24 became the only F5000 car to win against F1 opposition when Peter Gethin won the 1973 Race of Champions.
This original Brian Redman Chevron B24 race used steering wheel was made by Personal of Italy and is an example of their “Fittipaldi” design as used by Emerson in his JPS Lotus 72. It is etched with the Chevron logo to the centre and retains its race used patina. It is supplied with a black and White photo of the car hand signed in person by Brian Redman.
A unique and wonderful momento from the career of Redman who won two IMSA class wins at Le Mans in 1978 and 1980 and drove for Cooper, Lola, Shadow, Williams, BRM, and Surtees in F1 as well as being one of the key drivers alongside Jo Siffert and Derek Bell in the filming of Steve McQueen’s Le Mans movie.
Supplied with a detailed MM COA.
