2023 McLaren privately commissioned DP Verimatic watch, with letter from the Ojjeh family
Mansour Ojjeh was a formidable commercial driving force behind McLaren, initially with Ron Dennis during the MP4 years of McLaren the 1980s, until he sadly passed away during the 2021 season.
McLaren were placed third in the F1 constructors table in 2020 and as a mark of appreciation to team members who had been part of that final full season for Mansour, his family commissioned a private ‘Verimatic’ watch issued in his honour, produced in the UK by Duckworth Prestex. These watches were only presented to team members and never publicly available.
We are delighted to offer this complete unworn example in original McLaren packaging with spare strap and letter from the Ojjeh family.
Duckworth Prestex is a British watch manufacturer with a rich history including the family being the long term UK distributor for TAG Heuer. It has a mechanical automatic movement watch with a fume / burnt orange dial and McLaren ‘papaya’ sweep seconds hand, with McLaren logo to the dial, presented on a fine brown suede strap with an orange rubber spare strap. The caseback has the McLaren logo and ‘mega’ (Mansour’s favourite expression) engraved.
It is presented in exclusive McLaren branded inner and outer boxes with guarantee card dated January 2023 and instruction manual.
This is a wonderful piece of memorabilia as well as being an elegant and sporty timepiece and is only the second example we have seen come to market. A rare opportunity.
