Taking It To The Max

Whilst the race around the streets of Monaco may have been somewhat processional, the weekend can hardly be accused of being uneventful. As the F1 circus heads for Baku, the drivers and constructors’ championships are finely poised for what looks likely to be the closest fought season in many years.

Here at Motorsport Memorabilia we have some new items from previous world champions as well as two new additions to our McLaren F1 roadcar collection.

We have added a collection of caps including a Pirelli winners cap signed by Kimi Raikkonen, a JPS Lotus cap signed by Emerson Fittipaldi and a PalmerSport winners cap signed by Nigel Mansell.

The collection also includes a superb Goodwood Racing Club members only cap signed by the late Sir Stirling Moss.

From the 2009 season we offer a pair of Fernando Alonso ING Renault FIA homologated Nomex race gloves.

New additions to our McLaren F1 roadcar section include a wonderful professional photograph of XP5: the car that secured the World Speed Record for a production car in 1998. This wonderful Colin Curwood photograph is framed with one of the celebration plaques commissioned by Ron Dennis and given to owners of the road cars.

One of the most famous of these was chassis 61, purchased by Rowan Atkinson, which was notoriously involved in an incident in 2011 resulting in the U.K.’s largest-ever car insurance claim that paid out nearly £1 million for repairs at the McLaren factory. All of the damaged parts were removed and destroyed bar two pieces offered for sale. This framed display consists of a section of carbon bodywork with the unique deep maroon paintwork, and a piece from the engine bay with 24-carat gold plating, mounted on carbon backing with original nose badge, a three-page letter of authentication as well as a photograph of Rowan at the wheel of chassis 61 hand signed at Goodwood. A truly unique item.

Thanks,

Tim
