Original And Best

Only two races into the 2021 season and we already have what is set to become a titanic battle for the F1 championship. Some standout performances by Lewis, Lando, as well as Max typified the Grand Prix at Imola and once again we were reminded how a little rain can spice the race action up.

Here at MM, we have been busy sourcing high quality pieces to bring to market including a rare Fernando Alonso McLaren 2007 race suit. This original Sparco homologation specification race suit was prepared for and used by Fernando at the lavish Valencia launch alongside Lewis Hamilton when Fernando arrived as reigning world champion.

From the ever popular Italian underdogs, Minardi, we offer an original race used carbon fibre dashboard panel with switchgear and dummy LCD panel, mounted and framed in the livery sported by the Italian team in 1993.

Continuing our McLaren F1/GTR collection, we offer an original victory cigar from the set commissioned by Ron Dennis after the team won the 1995 Le Mans 24-hour race first time out. The cigar remains unopened, and has been tastefully mounted and framed on a carbon effect background with LeMans and GTR logos. Perhaps a case of “in case of victory, break glass”?!

New into our historic collection, we have an original Snell 75 rated Bell Star II helmet manufactured in 1979. This was painted in period as a very good replica of Jody Scheckter’s design, with Brooklyn sponsorship. Jody won the Formula One world championship for Ferrari that year, making this a very special period replica helmet.

Also new to our historic section this week, we have a wonderful continuation steering wheel manufactured per the original by Springall, to the exact design used by Sir Jack Brabham on the Cooper T51 car taking him to consecutive Formula One world championship titles in 1959 and 1960. The Cooper was the first rear engined car to win the F1 title. Originally commissioned by Crosthwaite and Gardiner for a restoration, this piece features correct hand stitched leather in maroon and original etched alloy Cooper badging to the centre. A simply beautiful historic piece to grace any serious collection.

Lastly this week, we have a set of five Ferrari paperweights exclusively presented to Ferrari VIP sponsors to celebrate five consecutive world championship constructors titles from 1999 to 2003. These heavy paperweights are seldom made available singularly, let alone as a complete set.

Meantime, we look forward to the next round of the championship at Portimao on the Algarve in Portugal.

Thank you

Tim
