As the F1 circus pitches up at Silverstone, a lot of enthusiasts will be delighted that the event was allowed to go ahead as a trial, much like the Goodwood Festival of Speed coming just before COVID restrictions are largely lifted on July 19th.
The new sprint race qualifying format will add another twist to events. Will teams go cautious? It will certainly mean that there will be more focus on the Friday qualifying.
For those at the circuit, the roar of Lewis Hamilton’s 2010 McLaren MP4/25 will be heard on a parade lap as it goes under the RM Sotheby’s auctioneer’s hammer with an upper estimate of £5m!
If the budget cannot stretch to that, we are delighted to offer a superb Amalgam 1:8 scale replica of Lewis’ 2007 McLaren Mercedes that he raced to win his first-ever Grand Prix in Canada in 2007. This example is number 1 of 99 and is a truly exquisite piece.
We are also delighted to offer an original McLaren 1:2 scale wind tunnel model grooved tyre from 1998/9. A rarely seen development piece from the Drivers World Championship winning car presented with a bespoke inset with team logo.
New into our stock we have an original Alcantara trimmed headrest from Eddie Irvine’s Jaguar F1 car from 2000. Beautifully embroidered with the team logo and presented in quilted green leather and framed, this makes for a very attractive piece.
For the LeMans enthusiast, we have a 1:18 model of the Harrods McLaren F1 GTR campaigned at LeMans in 1995 by Derek Bell and a genuine framed McLaren victory cigar from that wonderful weekend!
From our historics section, we offer a genuine Mota Lita steering wheel that was hand-signed by the late great Sir Stirling Moss in 2010 and a programme from the 1969 Oulton Park Gold Cup hand-signed by Graham Hill, Jackie Stewart, Jack Brabham, Jochen Rindt as well as Ickx, Hailwood, Chapman and Ireland.
Lastly this week, a simply stunning resin cast bust of perhaps the greatest driver of all time: Gentleman Jim Clark.
Enjoy the weekend!
