The winning drivers trophy, 2003 F1 Brazilian GP, Sao Paolo
We are delighted to offer this incredible piece of Formula 1, Ford Cosworth and Jordan Grand Prix history with perfect provenance.
In 2003, the Brazilian GP was deluged with rain and the race was red flagged. The Jordan Ford of Giancarlo Fisichella ended the race on fire in pit lane, whilst Kimi Raikkonen was declared the race winner and was presented with the trophy.
However, upon countback, the FiA realised Fisi had crossed the line inthe lead and they conceded their mistake. Fisichella was declared the official race winner for his maiden victory, hence at the next round at Imola, a handover between the two drivers and Ron Dennis / EJ was organised for the attendant press.
This was the final GP win for the Jordan team, the last F1 race win to date for a Ford Cosworth powered car and Fisichella’s first of 3 wins. In line with their driver contracts, the Jordan team retained the original winning driver trophy in the reception of the Silverstone factory.
In 2022, EJ decided to support his chosen charities by selling various race car chassis as well as his collection of trophies via a private treaty process run by CARS International. This trophy was one of the key pieces sold into a private collection and is now being offered for sale on the open market for the first time, complete with its acquired patina (which can be polished out at the purchaser’s discretion).
An absolutely superb piece is 34 cm in height, with a diameter of 30 cm and it weighs 3kg! One for the serious collector and an unrepeatable opportunity.
