It may be 31 years ago, but we will never forget the tragic events of the 1994 San Marino GP weekend. Rubens Barrichello’s lucky escape after his huge crash in Friday practice was followed by Roland Ratezenberger’s fatal accident in the Simtek S194 on Saturday 30th April. What happened on the following day still haunts F1 to this day, with the death of the mercurial legend, Ayrton Senna.
From the 1994 Simtek team we have an exceptionally rare copy of Nick Wirth’s business plan for that season, with a fabricated mechanics box made at the factory and painted in the purple team colours with team badge as well as a Simtek overall patch signed by David Brabham and Nick Wirth.
There are many tributes to Ayrton Senna, whilst race used Senna memorabilia is still the “premier league” of collectibles. We are pleased to offer both, with a JPS 97T front wing end certified by Classic Team Lotus as used by Senna in 1985 as well as three original art pieces by our resident fine artist, Ben Payne : ‘Brazilian Eyes’, ‘Arrivederci Ayrton’ and ‘Rheos 91’. The latter two artworks are also available as fine art prints.
During Ayrton’s last World Championship winning season in 1991, Marlboro produced enamelled pin badges for each race. We have a rarely available complete set of 16 mounted and box framed available.
Ayrton’s nephew, Bruno, drove his uncle’s maiden GP winning Lotus 97T at Goodwood recently and we have a McLaren 570 race car steering wheel used by Bruno available as well as a Pure McLaren Hockenheim carbon race entrants plaque, both pieces signed by Bruno Senna for MM.
Eddie Irvine was ruled out of GP duty at Imola in 1994 after a race ban but drove in the Porsche Supercup race. We have one of Eddie’s used and signed 1996 Ferrari race visors new into stock.
Meantime, the F1 circus heads for the bright lights of Miami this weekend. Will Oscar cement his championship lead?
Thanks,
Tim
